Special Statement by BGI Lawyers
We, the employees of BGI Legal, strongly condemn the anti-constitutional actions of Georgia’s self-proclaimed government. These actions, which go against the will of the overwhelming majority of Georgian people, intentionally sabotage Georgia’s EU integration process and undermine Georgia’s sovereignty and independence.
One month after the rigged elections, the results of which have not been internationally recognized, the illegitimate government has effectively rejected Georgia’s European future, using wording almost identical to that used by Ukraine’s pro-Russian leader Viktor Yanukovych in 2014. This move not only cynically ignores Georgia's historical choice but also brings the country into Russia’s sphere of influence.
In response to the justified, legitimate protests of Georgian citizens, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the self-declared government, along with unidentifiable violent gangs acting under its orders, are using brutal, repressive tactics against peaceful demonstrators, viciously assaulting ordinary citizens and journalists, abducting and mercilessly beating hundreds of young Georgian patriots fighting for Georgia's freedom and democracy.
These actions are an insult to every Georgian citizen and must not be left unanswered. Under these circumstances, there can be no business as usual with the de facto government.
In this critical moment in Georgia’s history, we stand shoulder to shoulder with Georgian people in a noble fight against injustice, authoritarianism, and Russification.
Unity is our path to victory.
